Our Story

The Ride of a Lifetime

Our story began in the fall of 2016, thanks to a little serendipity - and a lot of persistence from our dear friend Lanni. She combed through profiles and found Mark, and nudged Tarra to send that first message: “Nice bike.“ Mark‘s reply was simple- “nice smile“ but it was the spark that started everything.

From that moment on, something just felt easy. We spent the next few weeks texting, talking on the phone FaceTiming late into the night, sharing stories, laughter, and curiosity. By Thanksgiving Tarra was on Long Island with family, but we both knew it was time to meet face-to-face. She left promptly after the holiday and soon we were on our very first date- low-key, at home, watching a movie. No fanfare, no pressure- just the comfort of being together.

From the very beginning, we found something rare: conversation that never ran out, laughter that came naturally, and a connection that didn’t need explaining. We were different in many ways yet deeply drawn to one another. We’ve learned so much from each other, and throughout the years, we remain each other’s biggest fans.

In May 2019, we faced our first heartbreak as a couple. We had to make the painful decision to say goodbye to Kingston, our beloved 14 year old Labrador retriever. It was one of those defining moments in life- when the ground shifts and the grief settles in. But even through that loss, we discovered something powerful: we were great when life was good, but we were even better when life got hard. That moment reminded us that love isn't just about joy- it's also about showing up for each other when the world feels heavy.

Our life together has been full of simple joys- camping trips, long bike rides on the Harley, dancing in the living room to songs we made up ourselves. We sing, we laugh, we go on adventures, and we’ve found joy in just being together. The Dominican Republic became a favorite place for us, where each trip brought unforgettable memories and new friends from all over the country.

Over time, we built a life- two homes, two beloved dogs, a full calendar and full hearts. This past year, we were reminded just how precious life is- We experienced heartbreaking loss: our last dog Holiday, Mark’s beloved Mother Gloria, and Tarra‘s Father Pete. Grief changed us- It deepen our gratitude, sharpened our focus on what truly matters, and brought even more clarity to the love we share.

Through it all our bond only grew stronger. We’ve come to understand that living well isn’t about having everything- it’s about being present, being kind, doing what’s right, and loving with your whole heart. That’s the life we choose. That’s the life we promised to live together. We are ready to spend the rest of our lives as Husband and Wife, continuing to love, laugh support, respect, and above all, have fun-Because the best parts of life are the ones we share.

We are so excited to celebrate this next chapter with the people who have been a part of our ride. Thank you for reading our story. We hope you’ll be there with us to celebrate the life we’re building together-forever.

With all our hearts, Mark and Tarra

Peter A. Hesse III (February 4, 1942 to February 3, 2025) of Glenwood Landing, NY, passed away at the age of 82, just one day shy of his 83rd birthday. Peter was a remarkable man—an incredible father, husband, grandfather, great grandfather, brother, proud Honorary Member of the Glenwood Fire Company, Commissioner of the Glenwood Water District. Beloved husband and best friend of Kathleen for 61 years. Loving father to Robin, Barbara and Tarra. Cherished grandfather to Jennifer, Vinny and Samantha. Loving great grandfather to Gia and Kye. Honorable Kingston & Royal Holiday-The Pups

Picture of Honorable Kingston & Royal Holiday-The Pups

Kingston was Tarra's very first dog-and from the moment he met Mark, he adopted him as his own. Over the course of 14 wonderful years, Kingston gave us the gift of unwavering companionship and unconditional love. He will always be a part of our story.

Holiday was our baby boy, and like Kingston, he gave us 14 incredible years of love. He was happiest when we were all together-our gentle giant, so sweet, and so beautiful. A true companion in every sense, Holiday brought peace and comfort just by being near.

We miss them both terribly, every single day.
